Greeting Cards: The Hedgerow Series - Great Tits

£3.00

The Hedgerow Series of prints and collages are inspired by the hedgerow that forms a boundary along the back of my garden.  It is ironic that hedges form boundaries yet are the greatest highways by which wildlife moves around the country.

In areas with few woods, many species of birds depend on hedgerows for their survival.

My hedgerow is an incredibly lively place for birds and insects and, throughout the year, is an ever-changing picture.

Great Tits are abundant in my garden, flying down from the hedgerow to feed on sunflower seeds, and to drink and splash about in the birdbath.  They are beautiful to look at, mostly green and yellow with large white cheeks on their black heads.  The bold black stripe on its underparts is the best way to tell apart males and females: the male’s stripe is broader, especially on the belly, and the female’s does not reach as far as the legs.

My greetings card dimensions are 10.5cm x 14.5cm and are made with a combination of printing techniques and / or collage. Using the Akua Kolor range of water-based inks, my designs not only reflect nature, but also consider the environment.
