New Exhibition! The Secret Garden.

There will be a new exhibition entitled ‘The Secret Garden’ taking place at Chalk’s Gallery, Lymington in the New Forest, and I’ve been invited to take part, so I’ll be submitting a mix of collages and prints.

Of course I’ve pushed myself to make some new art for this show, so I’ve started off today by collaging this plump little robin redbreast, to complement some of my earlier works. When I am strapped for time, I kid myself that a collage will be the fastest route, but it’s definitely not the case - I can spend hours sifting and sorting papers and getting the colour scheme and the design right!  However, saying that, it is a lovely focus and takes my mind off the worry and despondency that currently surrounds us.

If you’ve read the book, you’ll know that Francis Hodgson-Burnett’s classic tale, The Secret Garden, is one of transformation, exaltation of nature and its effects on the human spirit. Just what the world needs right now, in my opinion.

Of course, owing to lockdown, the exhibition will be online only, but Harriet and Lucy, the owners, will be in the gallery every day to answer any enquiries.

I hope that you can drop by and support the gallery and the other artists!

The Secret Garden’ starts on 2 Feb and runs through until 27 March 2021.
